Basement Barbell
About the Gym
Basement Barbell was started in 2015 after the private gym Brandon was training at closed down. At the time, very few people were creating honest, detailed video reviews of gym equipment, so he began incorporating equipment reviews into his YouTube content alongside his own training. What started as a single rack setup occupying roughly 50 square feet has since evolved into the fully built-out home gym you see today. As Brandon went deeper into the gym equipment rabbit hole, the space was refined to support his powerlifting-focused training style while also aligning with his aesthetic preferences and personal brand. Much of the equipment is custom-built and made in the USA, with the gym also featuring collaborations with some of the biggest companies in the strength equipment space. Highlights include over 40 barbells, custom combo rack, a full set of fixed dumbbells, more than 4,000 pounds of free weights including two competition plate sets, and a constantly evolving lineup of specialty equipment. While no gym is ever finished, Basement Barbell remains one of the most recognizable gyms in the world.
