York Barbell Deep Dish KG Vintage Weight Plates

The “modern” York deep-dish plates are among the most iconic weightlifting designs, produced for several decades as the final evolution of York’s earlier styles. With rounded edges and a hub-and-spoke design extending to the edges, they balanced form and function perfectly. The “20kg” variation, with a slightly shallower hub, is believed to have been made in the early 1950s for the European market, including the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. These plates also feature light milling on the back, the earliest known instance of this machining on York plates. The smaller plates in the series carry “Kg” markings, distinct from the later “KG” format.
