Westside Scout Hyper

Westside Scout Hyper

The Scout Hyper is a patented, foldable reverse-hyper machine developed by powerlifting legend Louie Simmons and Westside Barbell. This uniquely lightweight and mobile design features hinging legs that lock into place with pop pins and easily fold back for efficient storage after use (the total depth of the unit, when folded, is just 13”). Louie Simmons created this model with home, work, and light clinical use in mind—with particular benefits for younger athletes or those new to reverse hyper training. The unit comes standard with a durable, round-edge pad (27.5” wide x 21.5” deep x 2” thick) to limit friction against the hips, as well as a nylon webbing hyper strap, two weight posts (5.25” loadable length), a set of spring collars, and 6” long handles. A bolt-on handle extension kit is also available a la carte for users who need to accommodate a shorter distance from the end of the pad to the handles.

Easy to store if needed, though I've always left it opened up. Very sturdy even with a few hundred lb, though would probably use the higher end one for more weight. Padding is comfortable and the handles are easy to grip

I really liked owning this thing. For the price, it’s really good. I like that it can be folded away, but I really didn’t do that. Once you have everything secured it feels solid even with a few plates on. I don’t load up as many plates as some guys for hypers, for them you may need a full size model with longer loading pins. Pad feels comfortable also. For shorter people, get the extra handles. Overall a great machine

I have owned the westside scout reverse hyper by rogue fitness for about 3 years. When I have used this piece it works great and is not that much different in feel than a stationary model. There is some wobble, but nothing that concerns me for still doing the movement as intended. It is possible that a taller and heavier user could have a different experience, but I have not heard or seen that occur. Generally, if you want one and don’t had a massive amount of space, this is the reverse hyper to get. Some critiques I have: Like many, I don’t end up using the reverse hyper often and it being able to fold up and put away has resulted in me using it even less. Other stuff gets stacked in front or in the way. That’s a me problem, but I’d expect for it to also happen to some people as well. It is not that bad to move around, but there is no designed place to put your hands. You end up just grabbing the side sheet metal which is awkward and uncomfortable. Since the main sell on this is that it can be folded and put away, I’d think they would make it in a way that is more optimized for that function. Overall, it’s a good value and takes very little space. I’d recommend it if you believe or have been using one regularly.
