RML-390F Flat Foot Monster Lite Rack

RML-390F Flat Foot Monster Lite Rack

The RML-390F is the Flat Foot version of the RML-3 Monster Lite Power Rack. Available as a stand-alone unit or by converting an existing SML-2 or SML-3 Squat Stand, this rack's self-stabilizing base means you won't need to bolt it to the ground before you use it—a major benefit for those looking to protect their floors or to have more flexibility in a workout space. The Flat Foot Monster Lite Rack is manufactured in Columbus, OH, and features 3x3" 11-gauge steel uprights, 2x3" 11-gauge steel bases with Westside hole spacing and 5/8" bolts and fasteners. Leaving just a 48" x 49" footprint, the unit still creates a substantial 30" of inside depth. Customers can choose between a Single Skinny or Fat/Skinny 43" Pull-up Bar, and all orders come standard with a pair of Monster Lite J-Cups and a pin/pipe safety system.

I had this rack for several years before selling it to make space for my custom 8-post rack from Rep. The RML-390F was sturdy enough for everything I threw at it. The power coating was high quality and I didn't notice any chipping. However, depending on the flooring you have, it may slide around a bit when reracking heavy weights. Additionally, it was just a bit too short to overhead press in for my height (5'11"). I also have to write numbers on the uprights for the holes with sharpie. They could definitely add numbering, even if it's every 5 holes like Rep does with the PR-4000. Additionally, the flat foot design does limit you from adding on later from Rogue's catalogue of rack attachments that require bottom cross-members. If you are looking for just a power rack and you know you won't need to use it for functional trainer capability or don't want to add on weight storage, this rack is great. Otherwise, I'd for a "bolt down" rack (who really needs to bolt those down anyways).

I’ve been using this rack for ~5 years, strong enough to handle anything a lifter can throw at it. The flat feet is a bonus for stability but the pieces holding the feet on the rack make it difficult to attach anything on the very bottom few inches of the rack. Also not quite tall enough to do standing OHP inside the cage.

I’ve been using the RML-390F Flat Foot Monster Lite Rack in my home gym for about 2 years. Even without being bolted down, the flat-foot design keeps it stable during heavy squat and pull-ups, with no noticeable wobble. My rack is positioned on an Olympic size platform and I prefer not having my rack bolted down as I do move it back a foot or 2 to make room for floor to overhead movements. I do have the dialed motion set up on this and if I don’t have the side with weight on a stall mat it will slip. No issues with movement or slipping if I’m on a mat. As always rogue provides a good build quality with clean welds and a durable powder coat. Other brands have significantly improved their quality at a lower price, making this rack a bit lower in overall value for your dollar. An improvement I would like to see is ANY numbering on the uprights. I personally think BOS does it best with their ⅝” rack with numbers. You could write them yourself, use stickers, or magnets, but with rogue holding a slightly more premium perception I’d prefer not to write on my rack. No numbering isn’t the end of the world, but it is a noticeable few second issue that I am reminded of 1-2 times per workout. If you’re going flat foot and don’t need made in the USA, go BOS.
