Kabuki Duffalo Bar

Very well made bar. Saves the shoulders for squats and makes for great overload training for bench. Sadly theyre a relic of the past, but if you can find one, get it.

I’ll confess that I haven’t used this much, but Jen Thompson swears by it and that’s good enough for me.

This is hands down my favorite specialty bar, if you haven’t have ever had any upper body injuries (wrist, elbows, shoulders ect) and you lik to do the traditional squat this is the bar for you. I owned the chrome for a couple year and eventually found a great deal on the Nickel coated one. It’s one of my forever bars Perfect camber and drop, spectacular knurling. Just truly the perfect bow style bar. Purchased used in 2020

I've used our Duffalo bar in Massenomics gym off and on for years. I like having it as an available option in the rotation. Pretty expensive to buy new (which I did). I like the center-of-bar knurl mark. The overall quality and knurling does seem pretty premium. I also have a cheap bow bar as a comparison. Functionally I kind of like that one just as much if I'm being honest. RIP Kabuki.

In my opinion this was the nicest buffalo bar on the market. Before Kabuki folded, they had this thing in a really nice position. You get that great Kabuki knurl and some nice finishes. Like all things Kabuki there was always some potential quality control issues to deal with, but if you got a good copy it was fantastic. I owned this bar twice and still miss it on occasion. I ended up keeping the Rogue CB-4 instead just b/c of the thicker diameter and more novelty.

Like many people, I looked at the cheaper knock off versions of this bar first. I even owned the Titan Yukon bar for a few years. After using the competition and then using the real thing, I must say that Kabuki is the only one to get that feel and angle right. At least for my body. Generally, I don’t recommend this type of bar at all. Even when done well I don’t see much need for it as compared to other bars. Issues with shoulders for squats? Go SSB, MARRS, Camber, Transformer, or Spider. Want a deeper stretch on bench? Go Kadillac (or other similar design). I own it because I like having the variety and I wanted more of the history of Kabuki in my gym (and I got a used one for a pretty low price). Not a great reason even for me.
